How to Ship a Trading Card (So It Arrives Mint)
The beginner mistake I preach against most? Shipping a card incorrectly and insecurely. A card that arrives bent costs you the sale, the refund, and the feedback. Here is the exact build every single card leaves my desk in — no secrets.
The standard build (up to 10 cards)
Penny sleeve → rigid sleeve (toploader) → team bag → thick trading-card mailer. That's it. The team bag keeps the card from sliding out of the toploader in transit, and the thick mailer keeps the whole thing from flexing. All-in cost to mail one card this way: about $1.10.
When it graduates to a bubble mailer
Two triggers: the single item is over $20, or the package is thicker than 1/4 inch. And here is the part people get wrong — the card still gets the full build first: sleeve, toploader, team bag, then sandwiched between cardboard protectors, then into the bubble mailer. The mailer changes; the protection never does.
The cheapest lesson in the business
Be patient with the mail. Most "lost" packages are just slow. Build it right, ship it on time, and let it travel.
